Nuttin' Here

I've got nothing. No pictures. No funny Cayel stories. No monster buck stories. Nothing insightful. Nuttin'...

Life has been good at our house here in the Black Hills. It's been simple. It's been uneventful. It's been routine. We've been healthy, for the most part. It's been busy with a whole lot of nuttin' important. And ahhh it feels so good! Oh wait, I guess we have been busy with ONE really important thing...But more on that later. Otherwise, I've got nuttin'!

Everyone in our household is antsy about our exciting weekend coming up!

Josh gets a GUYS weekend...he'll leave tonight and head back to the Eastern part of the state where he will meet up with a slue of his friends for their Annual SDSU Pheasant Hunt. Boys + No Girls Allowed + Shot Guns + Hunting Land + Pheasant Limits = A Taste of Heaven!

And, Marcy gets a GIRLS weekend (with little boy in tow)...they'll leave tomorrow afternoon and also head back to the Eastern part of the state (and just over the boarder into her birth state) where she will meet up with two of her nearest and dearest girl friends (and a boy playmate for Cayel) for our Annual Husbands Are Hunting Weekend. Girls + No Boys (except for the babies) + Yummy Food + Shopping + Wine + Late Night Talks = A Taste of Heaven!

After this weekend I'll maybe have a little somethin' to post. You know, to make up for my whole lot of nuttin'.

S*C*A*R*E*C*R*O*W

Meet my little S*C*A*R*E*C*R*O*W . . .

I decided to play Martha Stewart or more like Suzie Homemaker this year and make Cayel's costume. That's right, the girl who sewed her handbag inside out in 8th grade during her Life Living class made this costume (of course with the help of my dear friend Wendy). My mom who is an avid quilter and could sew something in her sleep would have gotten a kick out of me trying to maneuver that sewing machine. Those darn things are temperamental and I broke 2 needles in the process . . . don't ask. But, after a few hours, WA LA . . . Mr. S*C*A*R*E*C*R*O*W!

Cayel was far from impressed. He wanted to be a "Powner Ranger" and said a "Staretrow" wasn't tool. Excuse me?!?!? Since when does a 3 year know what cool is? And if you can't properly pronounce "Power Ranger" then you can't be it! Whew, not even in school yet and he's already becoming Mr. Independent. Ugh! It wasn't until we went to the Halloween Party at the Holiday Inn and every person that walked by him complimented on his costume or said how cute he was, that he whispered, "thems like my tostume. thems says I cute. I like my starestrow tostume mommy. but next time I be a Powner Ranger or Batman or Spiderman? When I bigger I mean?" Sure Cayel, when your bigger :).

Needless to say, he had a blast! Filled a heaping bag full of candy (lots of chocolate for mommy and daddy) and loved showing his costume off to Tahra and Neh, his daycare family and Grandpa and Grandma.

The pumpkin carving on the other hand, wasn't such a hit. Again, this year, just like last year, Cayel was in tears over having to clean the goop out of the pumpkin. The second I took the top off the pumpkin, the tears strolled down his face. Within minutes he decided he didn't want to carve it and that mommy could do it. He had fun cutting away on the scraps but wanted nothing to do with the actual pumpkin carving. He was even reluctant to take a picture with it. Funny kid!

Despite the foot of snow that was dumped on us the week prior, Halloween ended up being a beautiful fall evening! And my S*C*A*R*E*C*R*O*W was the cutest thing ever!
