And so it begins...

This morning I let Cayel sleep in. We woke up to dark overcast skies, a heavy down pour and loud thunder boomers. A perfect morning to stay in bed cuddled under my comforter but because I couldn't, I decided someone should be able to. I tip toed around his room, picking out his clothes so he could sleep until the very last minute. When I finally woke the sleepy head, he looked at the clothes I had just laid out and started crying. I of course thought it was because he was still groggy and tired and didn't want to get dressed so I offered to help him. Which made him cry harder. When I finally asked what was wrong, he said, "that shirt is ugawee and I won't look cool." Excuse me for a minute...Since when does a four year old know what is "ugawee" and who taught him what was cool and what wasn't?!?! Being the mean mom I am, I made him put on the shirt anyway. He pouted the rest of the morning.

Here's cool boy in his "ugawee" shirt...

On our way to school each morning we say a prayer. This morning he ended it with, "and please Jesus don't let my friends make fun of my ugawee shirt." And so it begins... thank you worldly views.

First Day of School

Our baby, started Pre-Kindergarten this past week...I'm still trying to comprehend how he's already 4 years old, being he was just born yesterday, and is now old enough to attend school. The math just doesn't seem to add up?? I guess this is one of those bitter-sweet milestones that so many mommy's talk about and now I find myself wondering, will it always be this hard? My guess is, yes.

Here is the excited Pre-Kindergartner the morning of his first day attending Black Hills Christian Academy.

Just as we were getting ready to walk out the door on his first day, he sat down holding his tummy and said, "I think I'm sick. I might "frow" up." I had to giggle at his innocence, knowing that it was nerves - I knew because I felt like I was going to "frow" up too. When I asked if he was nervous he said, "no...well maybe a little. What if friends don't like me mommy?" I fought back the tears and we said a little prayer. Our third one for the morning. My thirtieth one for the morning.

God gave both of us the courage to walk through those school doors that morning. His teacher greeted us and before she even said good morning to me, she knelt down and gave Cayel a hug and welcomed him to her tree house (her room is decorated like a tree house). That's exactly what I needed to see before I left my little baby at school. Thank you God. And it must have been exactly what Cayel needed too because in the blink of an eye he was off introducing himself to the first boy he saw. I could hear his sweet little voice say, "my name is Cayel, can I play with you?" He met a friend.
